In “Smallville” season nine telefilm “Absolute Justice”, actor Michael Shanks played the Winged Warrior, Hawkman, former leader of the Justice Society. Shanks also had a hawk-cameo in season nine finale “Salvation”. Hawkman was embittered largely by the loss of his great love, Shiera/Shayera, a.k.a. Hawkgirl. Now it appears a reunion is in the works. With Shanks already confirmed to be returning as Hawkman, “Smallville” has announced they’ve cast actress Sahar Biniaz as Hawkgirl. Biniaz has played cameo roles on “Smallville” before most notably as a contestant in the Smallville Sweet Corn Pageant (Contestant #3) competing against Kara/Supergirl in “Fierce”. She also played background roles in “Identity” and “Crossfire”. Biniaz also had a small role in DC film “Watchmen”.In the same upcoming episode as Hawkgirl’s debut, DC Comics villain and member of the Suicide Squad, Deadshot, a.k.a. Floyd Lawton, will appear. Actor Bradley Stryker (“The O.C.”; “Stargate”) has been cast as Deadshot.
